Summer Festivals in Europe: Tickets, Wristbands and Mobile Data
At a music festival, having an internet connection is useful, but having the correct admission credential is essential. Glastonbury checks personalised tickets, Tomorrowland uses activated bracelets, and Roskilde's current digital ticket policy rejects screenshots. The six festivals below use different systems, while crowded networks and long days can also put pressure on your phone. Prepare the ticket, the return journey and the battery before you enter.
Six festivals and the entry system that matters
| Festival, country and usual month | What the organiser requires |
|---|---|
| Glastonbury — United Kingdom, June | Personalised tickets with the holder's photograph and on-site wristbands. Tickets are not transferable. The festival takes occasional fallow years, so check that your intended edition is taking place. |
| Primavera Sound — Barcelona, Spain, June | AccessTicket is used for ticket validation and reservations for specified associated concerts. Certain activities have separate reservations; verify the rules for the main event and any side shows. |
| Mad Cool — Madrid, Spain, July | Festival wristbands identify attendees and are used for access. They may be delivered in advance or collected at designated points with the appropriate ticket. |
| Tomorrowland — Boom, Belgium, July | A personalised, activated Tomorrowland Bracelet is required for entry. A booking confirmation alone is not an admission credential. |
| Sziget — Budapest, Hungary, August | The Festival Account can generate a boarding pass that goes into a mobile Wallet. Photo identification is required at check-in, and attendees receive a wristband. |
| Roskilde — Denmark, June–July | The published digital system uses MyTickster or a supported Wallet, followed by a wristband. Its current official instructions explicitly reject printed tickets and screenshots. |
One eSIM for 33 European countries
Several countries on one trip? Same eSIM, same data, no swapping lines at the border.

Will it work on my phone?
On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.
On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.
It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.
Not sure about your model? Ask us before you pay and we will tell you — a person answers within 24 hours.
How it works
- 1Choose and payCard, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No account.
- 2Install it at homeThe QR arrives by email. Scan it on wifi in a minute.
- 3Connect when you landTurn on data roaming for the eSIM and you are online.
A screenshot is not a universal festival ticket
Roskilde provides the clearest warning: its official digital ticket instructions say that admission requires a digitally watermarked credential displayed through MyTickster or a supported Wallet. A screenshot or printout will not grant entry. If several tickets sit in one account, attendees must arrive together or transfer their tickets using the official process.
At Sziget, the organiser recommends generating a boarding pass from the Festival Account and saving it to a mobile Wallet. It also asks visitors to bring valid photo identification for the check-in process. This is a different requirement from showing a generic PDF received by email.
For Primavera Sound, check both your main festival access and any separate AccessTicket reservations for associated concerts. Being able to enter the main festival does not automatically provide a reservation for every smaller venue or accompanying programme.
Wristbands: what happens if yours is missing?
Tomorrowland's published conditions require a registered and activated bracelet to enter. If the physical bracelet has not arrived, the organiser directs visitors to a Bracelet Pick-Up Desk, where they must present the confirmation e-ticket and valid photo ID. Do not mistake that e-ticket for direct admission to the festival.
Mad Cool allows wristband collection at designated points when delivery is not applicable or when collection has been selected. Its rules explain that the ticket is exchanged for a wristband, which then serves as the access credential. A damaged bracelet should be handled through the organiser's incident service.
Glastonbury follows a personalised-ticket model: the photograph must match the person entering, and the wristband must be kept intact. A picture of somebody else's ticket is not a workaround. Check which documents you actually need before leaving your accommodation.
What to do if the festival app will not load
- Before travelling, complete account verification, ticket transfers and any required bracelet activation.
- Save valid Wallet passes when the organiser supports them; do not assume a screenshot is equivalent.
- Keep the original booking reference, confirmation email and account details accessible.
- Bring the identification required by the organiser, especially for personalised tickets and wristband collection.
- If an app fails at the entrance, ask the official ticketing or assistance desk for the accepted alternative.
- Do not repeatedly purchase another ticket just because an application is temporarily unresponsive.
- Read what to do when mobile data fails at festivals and stadiums.
Crowded networks are a planning problem
When many visitors use their phones in one area, local mobile networks can become congested. An active data pack does not guarantee that a message, map or app will load immediately. This is why your entrance ticket and a meeting plan should not depend entirely on opening a website at the front of the queue.
Download the organiser's site map, programme and transport instructions before arriving. Choose a recognisable meeting point with your group, plus a second option if the first becomes inaccessible. Save your campsite, hotel or shuttle pickup location and the latest official departure instructions.
Festival maps and schedules can change, so an offline copy is a backup rather than a guarantee of current information. Look for posted notices or ask event staff when you need a confirmed update.
Battery and GB allowance for several festival days
For a single day with tickets prepared, offline maps and modest messaging, 3 GB can be a suitable starting point. Choose 5 GB for a festival weekend with travel and regular updates. For a full multi-day event, 10 GB gives more room for photographs, schedules and messages. Consider 20 GB if you frequently upload video, use a hotspot or continue travelling after the festival. These are estimates for choosing a budget, not verified consumption figures.
Charge your phone before departure and carry a charged power bank if the venue rules allow it. Reduce unnecessary screen brightness and background activity; avoid leaving video uploads running when you need the battery for entry credentials and navigation.
The best battery reserve is the one still available when you need your return transport details. Keep the phone protected from heat, rain and accidental damage.
One eSIM for a European festival itinerary
A trip combining, for example, Barcelona, Belgium and Budapest crosses national borders. Snoozim's Europe pack covers 33 countries, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway, but not Andorra; one pack continues providing data between included countries. A national pack stops outside its designated country. Confirm that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM on the compatibility page. Snoozim emails the QR within minutes for Wi-Fi installation at home. The validity period starts upon first connection at the destination. On arrival, set that eSIM for data and enable roaming on it. Snoozim has no phone number, conventional calls or SMS; WhatsApp uses your existing number. You can share data through a hotspot or top up the same eSIM.

Will a screenshot of my festival ticket be accepted?
Not necessarily. Roskilde's published policy expressly rejects screenshots and printouts. Follow the specific organiser's requirements for a Wallet pass, app, personalised ticket or wristband.
What should I do if my Tomorrowland bracelet has not arrived?
The organiser describes collection at its Bracelet Pick-Up Desk using a valid confirmation e-ticket and photo ID. A confirmation email alone is not sufficient for direct entry.
Is 10 GB enough for a multi-day festival?
It is a reasonable planning choice for regular messaging, maps, schedules and photo sharing. Heavy video uploading or frequent hotspot use may justify considering 20 GB.
