Will it work on my phone?
On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.
On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.
It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

The Turkey trap on the eastern islands
Kos, Rhodes, Samos, Lesbos, Chios and Symi are only a few kilometres from the Turkish coast. Near the shore facing Turkey, your phone may pick up a Turkish network, which is not in the EU: with your home plan that can mean expensive roaming, and a Greece eSIM simply loses data there.
The fix takes ten seconds: in your phone’s mobile network settings, turn off automatic network selection and choose a Greek network by hand while you are on those islands.
Coverage, ferries and beaches
