Will it work on my phone?
On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.
On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.
It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

Belarus and Kaliningrad: the border trap
- Close to either border, set network selection to manual and pick a Lithuanian network by hand.

Both sit entirely outside the EU roaming area, and both are close to places people actually visit. Near the eastern border, and along the road and the lagoon towards Kaliningrad, a phone can latch onto a network on the other side without you crossing anything. Nothing on screen says the rule has stopped applying, but the tariff has changed: from that moment your operator bills you at its international rates, not at home prices.

A Lithuania eSIM runs on the local networks, Telia (5G), Tele2 (5G). There are two of them and both carry 5G, so picking one by hand near a border costs you nothing in speed. Data only: your usual number stays on your own SIM, so calls and bank codes keep arriving.
Coverage: Vilnius, the coast and the Curonian Spit
Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda have strong coverage with 5G, and so do the motorways between them. The Curonian Spit is a thin strip of dunes and pine forest with the lagoon on one side and the sea on the other: the villages are covered, but between them it thins, and this is also the stretch where the nearest mast may not be a Lithuanian one. In the villages, yes. Between them it thins, and it is also where a network from the other side of the border is easiest to pick up.
Does a Lithuania eSIM work in Latvia or Poland?
Only if the plan lists them. For a trip across the Baltics, the Europe plan is simpler.
