Mobile data in Las Vegas for visitors
Las Vegas is compact on the Strip and enormous around it: you walk between resorts, then drive for hours into the desert. The United States eSIM gives you data on Verizon and AT&T without a number, so your own SIM keeps calls and texts.
At a glance
- Does an eSIM work in the United States?
- Yes. It connects to Verizon, AT&T (5G).
- Price
- From 5,99 € (3 GB, 15 days).
- For a one-week trip
- 5 GB for 30 days: 8,99 €.
- Does an EU phone plan work there?
- No: The United States is outside EU roaming, so even a plan from an EU country charges it as abroad.
- When does the plan start?
- When your phone first connects to a network in the United States. The QR code arrives by email within minutes.
Harry Reid airport: the ride-app pickup is in the garage
Harry Reid International has two passenger terminals, 1 and 3, and no rail link to the Strip. Uber and Lyft pick up inside the parking garages: at Terminal 1, go up from baggage claim to Level 2 and cross the bridge to the garage; at Terminal 3, cross the pedestrian bridge from Level 1 and go down to the Valet Level.
The airport signs show the way and the app confirms the zone. Drivers wait close by, so the usual advice is to request the car once you are standing at the pickup area. That means having data from the moment you leave baggage claim, which is why it pays to install the eSIM at home.

Will it work on my phone?
On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.
On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.
It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

The Deuce, the Monorail and the Strip on foot
Distances on the Strip are longer than they look, because each resort is a block in itself, and in summer the heat is serious. RTC's Deuce bus runs along the Strip and downtown, and the rideRTC app sells fares on the phone that you scan when boarding.
The Las Vegas Monorail runs behind the east side of the Strip with seven stations, from MGM Grand to SAHARA, and its tickets can be bought online and scanned from the phone at the gate. Ride apps fill the gaps, and the app shows where each resort's pickup point is before you walk there.
Grand Canyon West, the South Rim and Hoover Dam's two clocks
Grand Canyon West, home of the Skywalk, is on the Hualapai Reservation in Arizona and is not part of the national park; the Park Service puts it about 122 miles from central Las Vegas via US-93 and Pierce Ferry Road. The South Rim, inside the national park, is a much longer drive, and the Park Service has itself described telecoms there as insufficient for visitors. Its official app can be saved for offline use, with the map and your location working without signal.
US-93 crosses into Arizona at Hoover Dam. Arizona does not change its clocks in summer, so for part of the year the two ends of the dam are an hour apart, and a phone on automatic time can switch as it picks up a network on the other side. Check the time zone of any tour booking.
Death Valley, Zion and the long desert loops
Death Valley is the closest of the big California parks to Las Vegas, and the Park Service describes cell service there as limited to none. Download the park map, the route back and your hotel details before you leave town, and tell someone which road you are taking.
Zion, in Utah, and the drive on to Los Angeles are still the United States, so the same eSIM covers the whole loop without changing anything on the phone. What changes is how much signal the desert gives you: offline maps for each park are the one habit worth keeping all trip.
How much data for Las Vegas
Three or four nights on the Strip, with shows booked on the phone, the map between resorts and a few ride-app trips, fit in the 3 GB pack, valid for 15 days. Add a hire car and a day at Grand Canyon West or Hoover Dam and 5 GB, valid for 30 days, is more comfortable.
For a desert loop through Death Valley, Zion and the Grand Canyon, take 10 GB and save offline maps before each park. Buy up to 180 days ahead; the eSIM starts when it first connects in the United States and you can top it up without reinstalling. See the packs on the United States page.
Where do I meet my Uber at Las Vegas airport?
In the parking garage: Level 2 at Terminal 1 and the Valet Level at Terminal 3. Follow the signs from baggage claim and request the car once you get there.
Does it work at the Grand Canyon Skywalk?
Grand Canyon West is in Arizona, so the US pack applies, but signal at the canyon depends on the local network. Save your tickets and the map before leaving Las Vegas.
Why did my phone's clock change at Hoover Dam?
Arizona does not use daylight saving time, so for part of the year it is an hour behind Nevada. A phone on automatic time can switch when it connects to a network across the state line.
Is 3 GB enough for a weekend in Vegas?
For two or three nights on the Strip, yes, if you use the hotel wifi in your room. The pack lasts 15 days, so a short trip will not run out of time.
