Will it work on my phone?

On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.

On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.

It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

Coverage

The networks you connect to in Denmark

  • TDC 5G
  • 3 5G

Your phone picks whichever of these has the best signal where you are, and switches on its own. Nothing to configure.

Work out my data

Denmark is in the European Union, so if you are travelling from another European country your own plan already covers data. This eSIM is for visitors arriving from outside the EU. There are two networks, TDC and 3, both on 5G. It is a small, densely populated country, so coverage causes fewer problems here than almost anywhere else on the list.

Before you buy

Copenhagen for three days, Jutland for two weeks

A long weekend in Copenhagen, with maps, museum tickets and messages, fits in the 3 GB pack, which lasts 15 days. Install it at home and switch on data roaming for the eSIM when you land at Copenhagen Airport: you can look up the metro into the city while you wait for your bags.

Jutland is a different kind of trip. A family drive to Legoland in Billund, the beaches of the west coast and up to Skagen often means a week or two in a rented summer house, with tablets and a laptop hanging off one phone. If the house has no wifi, or you would rather not rely on it, 10 GB or 20 GB is the size that matches the stay, and both last 30 days. Between the two, the 5 GB pack covers a week of city and road.

Bornholm by way of Sweden, and the ferries to Germany

Two Danish trips leave the country on the way. The usual route from Copenhagen to Bornholm is the train across the Øresund bridge to Ystad, in Sweden, and the ferry from there to Rønne. Bornholm itself is Denmark, but on the Swedish leg a Denmark pack stops working. Heading south, the ferries from Rødby to Puttgarden and from Gedser to Rostock land in Germany.

If your plan includes either, the Europe pack covers Denmark, Sweden and Germany on the same eSIM, so the phone stays online on the train to Ystad and on the road to Hamburg. If you stay on the Danish side, from Zealand to Funen and Jutland, the Denmark packs are enough. For Sweden alone there is a Sweden eSIM.

Crossing borders?

One pack, 33 countries

The packs above only work in Denmark. For about 2 € more these work across all of Europe — same eSIM, nothing to change at the border.

3 GB Europe · 33 countries · 15 days 6,90 € 2,30 €/GB
Recommended 10 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 15,90 € 1,59 €/GB
20 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 23,90 € 1,20 €/GB
Questions

Travelling to Denmark, answered

Does the Denmark pack work on Bornholm?

Yes. Bornholm is part of Denmark, so the pack works there as it does in the rest of the country. Only the train through Sweden to Ystad, if you go that way, falls outside it.

We are a family of four. One eSIM or four?

Either works. One phone can share its data with the others as a hotspot, which suits a summer house or the car. If you split up during the day, buy one per person: the checkout lets you choose the number of travellers in a single order.

What if I cross the bridge to Malmo?

The moment you are in Sweden this pack stops working, because it covers Denmark only. If you are crossing, even for a day, take the 33-country Europe pack: it includes both and there is nothing to change.

Does it work on the islands and in Jutland?

Yes, with the same coverage a Danish SIM gets. It is a compact country with a good network; the gaps there are tend to be isolated.

Who is behind this

A person, not a call centre

Snoozim is run from Barcelona by Ibai Guirado Vera. It exists because paying for roaming by the day on a short trip made no sense. If something goes wrong with your eSIM you write, and the same person who built this answers you, within 24 hours.
