Will it work on my phone?

On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.

On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.

It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

City guides in Czechia

Each one has its own guide: from the airport to the centre, where the signal drops and how much data you need.

Coverage

The networks you connect to in Czechia

  • O2 5G
  • Vodafone 5G

Your phone picks whichever of these has the best signal where you are, and switches on its own. Nothing to configure.

Work out my data

Czechia is in the European Union, so if you are travelling from another European country your own plan already covers data. This eSIM is for visitors arriving from outside the EU. There are two networks here, O2 and Vodafone, both on 5G, and your phone moves to whichever has the better signal. Prague has coverage to spare; where two networks earn their keep is on the day trips out into Bohemia.

Before you buy

Prague alone, or with Český Krumlov, the spas and Moravia

For Prague on its own, three or four days with an afternoon in Kutná Hora, the 15-day 3 GB pack is the one. A week that adds Český Krumlov and a night in Brno, moving by train and bus, calls for 5 GB.

West Bohemia runs at a slower pace. A spa stay in Karlovy Vary or Mariánské Lázně is often two weeks long, and if the hotel wifi barely reaches the room, the 10 GB pack, valid for 30 days, carries the evenings of TV and video calls home without counting. South Moravia, with the wine cellars of Mikulov and the Lednice-Valtice estate, is easiest by car, and a week with the phone as satnav also gets close to 10 GB.

Prague, Vienna and Budapest on one eSIM

Prague is often the first stop of a longer loop through Central Europe: on to Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest, or north to Dresden and Berlin. Each of those cities is in another country, and the Czechia pack stops at the border. If that loop is the plan, take the Europe pack from the start: it counts from the first connection in Prague and keeps working in Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany without a second install.

Size it for the whole route, not for Prague. The 3 GB Europe pack lasts 15 days, which covers a ten-day loop; for three weeks, or for long train rides spent online, the 10 and 20 GB sizes run for 30 days. If Czechia is the only country on the trip, the packs above are enough.

Crossing borders?

One pack, 33 countries

The packs above only work in Czechia. For about 1 € more these work across all of Europe — same eSIM, nothing to change at the border.

3 GB Europe · 33 countries · 15 days 6,90 € 2,30 €/GB
Recommended 10 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 15,90 € 1,59 €/GB
20 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 23,90 € 1,20 €/GB
Questions

Travelling to Czechia, answered

Does it work on a day trip to Bohemian Switzerland?

Inside the national park, yes, because it is in Czechia. Some trails from Hřensko carry on into Saxon Switzerland, on the German side, and there the Czechia pack has no data. Download the map before you set off, or take the Europe pack if you plan to cross.

I land in Vienna and go on to Český Krumlov and Prague. Which pack?

The Europe pack, which works in Austria from the moment you land and carries on in Czechia with nothing to change. With the Czechia pack you would have no data at Vienna airport or on the road up to the border.

Does it work outside Prague?

You connect to the same masts a Czech SIM uses: wherever O2 or Vodafone reach, so do you. In rural and forested areas there are gaps, and no eSIM fixes that because it depends on the mast. Having two networks helps: if one does not reach, your phone tries the other.

I am visiting Prague and also Vienna or Dresden. Does this pack work?

No, this one covers Czechia only. The 33-country Europe pack includes Austria and Germany, so if your trip crosses a border that is the one to take.

Who is behind this

A person, not a call centre

Snoozim is run from Barcelona by Ibai Guirado Vera. It exists because paying for roaming by the day on a short trip made no sense. If something goes wrong with your eSIM you write, and the same person who built this answers you, within 24 hours.
