Will it work on my phone?

On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.

On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.

It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

Coverage

The networks you connect to in Norway

  • Telia 5G
  • Telenor 5G

Your phone picks whichever of these has the best signal where you are, and switches on its own. Nothing to configure.

Work out my data

Norway is not in the European Union but it is in the European Economic Area, and EU roaming covers it all the same: if you arrive on an EU plan, your data works with no surcharge. This eSIM is for visitors from further afield. There are two networks, Telia and Telenor, both on 5G. Norway is very long and very empty: the coverage gaps are geography, not operator.

Before you buy

Fjords, Lofoten or an aurora week: which pack

A long weekend in Oslo, or four or five nights in Tromsø waiting for the northern lights, sits comfortably in the 3 GB pack, valid for 15 days. The classic week from Oslo to Bergen on the Bergen Line, with the detour down the Flåm Railway and a boat on the fjord, is a 5 GB trip: the data goes on tickets, timetables and photos.

A two-week drive from Bergen up to Geiranger, Trollstigen and the Atlantic Road, or a loop of Lofoten with the phone as the car's hotspot, is where 10 GB earns its place. The 5, 10 and 20 GB packs all last 30 days, so a long summer trip does not run out of days before it runs out of data.

Where Norwegian routes cross into Sweden, Finland and Denmark

Norway has long land borders with Sweden and Finland, and plenty of routes cross them almost without notice: the train or the E6 from Oslo to Gothenburg, the road and the railway between Narvik and Kiruna, the drive from Tromsø into Finnish Lapland, the overnight DFDS ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen. The Norway pack stops at every one of those borders.

If your route touches any of them, the Europe pack covers all four countries on one eSIM, counting from the first connection in Norway. If Norway is the only country on the trip, stay with the packs above: there are more sizes, including the 5 GB one, which the Europe pack does not offer. For Sweden alone there is a Sweden eSIM.

Crossing borders?

One pack, 33 countries

The packs above only work in Norway. For about 2 € more these work across all of Europe — same eSIM, nothing to change at the border.

3 GB Europe · 33 countries · 15 days 6,90 € 2,30 €/GB
Recommended 10 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 15,90 € 1,59 €/GB
20 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 23,90 € 1,20 €/GB
Questions

Travelling to Norway, answered

Can I start using it as soon as I land at Oslo airport?

Yes. Install it at home from the QR in your email, then turn on data roaming for the eSIM line when you land at Gardermoen or anywhere else in Norway. That first connection is when the 15 or 30 days start counting.

I am on a cruise along the Norwegian coast. Which pack?

If every port is in Norway, the Norway pack does the job. If the cruise starts or ends in another country, such as Denmark, Germany or the United Kingdom, the Europe pack covers the ports on both sides with the same eSIM.

Will I have coverage in the fjords and the mountains?

In towns and on main roads, usually yes. In closed fjords, mountain tunnels and up high there are stretches with no signal, and the same happens to any Norwegian SIM: there is simply no mast there.

I am visiting Norway and also Sweden or Denmark. Does this work?

No, this one covers Norway only. The 33-country Europe pack includes all three, which is the practical choice for a Scandinavian route.

Who is behind this

A person, not a call centre

Snoozim is run from Barcelona by Ibai Guirado Vera. It exists because paying for roaming by the day on a short trip made no sense. If something goes wrong with your eSIM you write, and the same person who built this answers you, within 24 hours.
