Your phone plan in Spain
Since Brexit, UK plans are no longer covered by the EU roaming rules and each operator decides for itself: some still include Europe, often with a smaller data allowance, others charge for it. Check yours before you fly. If Spain is not included, or the allowance is small, this eSIM is a local Spanish plan paid once.
Will your phone take it?
Every iPhone from the XS onwards and most recent Android phones take an eSIM. The ten-second check that is always right: open Settings, go to Mobile Data and look for "Add eSIM".

Paying in euros
Prices are in euros and your card is charged in euros. Your bank converts from GBP at its own rate, and some cards add a foreign transaction fee: check yours if you want the exact figure in advance.
Install it before you fly
Install the eSIM at home on wifi, days or weeks before the trip. The plan does not start counting until your phone first connects to a network in Spain, and you can buy up to 180 days ahead. When you land, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and you are online.

Do I need an eSIM for Spain if I travel from the UK?
Not necessarily: it depends on what your operator charges for Spain. If your plan does not include it, or the data allowance abroad is small, a local eSIM usually works out cheaper and you know the price before you go.
