Will it work on my phone?

On iPhone: Settings → General → About, and scroll to EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Every iPhone from the XS (2018) onwards does.

On Android: Settings → About phone → Status, and look for EID. If there is an EID, your phone takes eSIMs. Most Galaxy S20, Pixel 3 and later do.

It also has to be carrier-unlocked. If you bought it outright or your contract is over, it almost certainly is.

Coverage

The networks you connect to in Estonia

  • Tele2 5G
  • Telia 5G

Your phone picks whichever of these has the best signal where you are, and switches on its own. Nothing to configure.

Work out my data

Estonia is in the European Union, so if you are travelling from another European country your own plan already covers data. This eSIM is for visitors arriving from outside the EU. There are two networks, Tele2 and Telia, both on 5G. Watch out for one thing that catches people here: the ferry to Helsinki crosses into Finland, and this pack stops at Estonia.

Before you buy

Old Town weekend, island summer or a month in Tallinn

Three days in Tallinn's Old Town, with Kadriorg and the Telliskivi creative quarter, fit in the 3 GB pack, which lasts 15 days. A week that adds Lahemaa National Park, the university town of Tartu and the beach at Pärnu is a 5 GB trip, most of it maps, bus tickets and photos.

A summer fortnight on Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, with a car and the family's tablets on your hotspot, is a 10 GB stay. A month working remotely from Tallinn is the 20 GB pack, and like the 5 and 10 GB ones it runs for 30 days. If you are torn between two sizes, take the larger one here: tickets, parking and payments go through apps, so running out halfway costs more than the step up.

Flying into Helsinki or Riga instead

Not everyone reaches Tallinn through its own airport. Plenty of travellers fly into Helsinki and take the two-hour ferry across, and others start in Riga and come up by bus, often at the end of a trip through the three Baltic capitals. Either way, the Estonia pack does nothing until the phone connects in Estonia: not at Helsinki Airport, not on the road through Latvia.

If you want data from the first landing, or the trip spends real time in Finland or Latvia, the Europe pack covers all three on one eSIM. If Helsinki or Riga is only a transfer, install the Estonia pack at home and turn on data roaming for its line when you reach the port or the bus station in Tallinn. For Latvia on its own there is a Latvia eSIM.

Crossing borders?

One pack, 33 countries

The packs above only work in Estonia. For about 1 € more these work across all of Europe — same eSIM, nothing to change at the border.

3 GB Europe · 33 countries · 15 days 6,90 € 2,30 €/GB
Recommended 10 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 15,90 € 1,59 €/GB
20 GB Europe · 33 countries · 30 days 23,90 € 1,20 €/GB
Questions

Travelling to Estonia, answered

Does the Estonia pack work on Saaremaa and Hiiumaa?

Yes. Both islands are part of Estonia, so the same pack works there with nothing to change. Only a trip that goes on to Finland or Latvia needs the Europe pack.

Is the 3 GB pack enough for a cruise stop in Tallinn?

For a day in port, yes: it starts when the phone connects in Estonia and lasts 15 days. If the cruise also calls at Helsinki, Stockholm or Riga, the Europe pack covers each of those ports on the same eSIM.

I am doing the day trip to Helsinki. Does this cover it?

Not in Finland: this pack covers Estonia only. For that trip take the 33-country Europe pack, which includes both and will not leave you without data halfway across.

Does it work outside Tallinn?

Yes, with the same coverage an Estonian SIM gets. In forested areas and on the smaller islands there can be gaps, as with any SIM.

Who is behind this

A person, not a call centre

Snoozim is run from Barcelona by Ibai Guirado Vera. It exists because paying for roaming by the day on a short trip made no sense. If something goes wrong with your eSIM you write, and the same person who built this answers you, within 24 hours.
