The Netherlands is in the European Union, so if you are coming from another European country your own plan already covers data. This eSIM is for visitors from outside the EU. And there is something particular to this country worth knowing before you buy: it is small, and the Belgian or German border is a little over an hour away by train, so a lot of people end up needing the Europe pack rather than this one.
Do I need it if I am coming from Spain or France?
Usually not: EU roaming covers the Netherlands at no extra cost. It pays off if your plan has a small allowance, or if you are staying for weeks.
Which networks will I connect to?
KPN and Vodafone, both on 5G. Your phone picks whichever has the best signal where you are and switches on its own. There is nothing to set up.
I am going to Amsterdam and then Brussels or Cologne. Does this pack work?
No, this one only works in the Netherlands and stops carrying data at the border. Here we will tell you to take the 33-country Europe pack even though it costs €3 to €6 more depending on size: in a country where the border is a long hour away by train, saving that difference usually turns out expensive.
I am only transiting through Schiphol. Do I need this?
If it is a short layover and you are not leaving the airport, probably not: Schiphol has free wifi. If the layover runs to several hours, you head into the city, or you would rather not depend on airport wifi, the 3 GB pack costs €3.99.
